Thirteen doesn't have to be unlucky. One of the most popular pieces, not only by Mozart himself, but also by the classics in general, is "thirteen" - the 13th Serenade in D major for string instruments. It is exactly 236 years old, because Mozart completed it on August 10, 1878, and it is called Eine kleine Nachtmusik, or Little Music of the Night, because this is how Mozart translated the Italian title "serenade" into German, meaning pieces played in gardens on warm, summer evenings.
In the evening we watch the romantic ballet prepared by the Viennese Marionette Theater of Schönbrunn Palace. Dusk has fallen, fireflies and butterflies are flying around. Meanwhile, Zosia is sitting alone under a tree. Although Tomek appears, she shyly turns away from him. The little, mischievous gnome Puck makes fun of the shy couple, who meanwhile fall asleep and find themselves in the land of the Pink Fairy and the Butterfly King. Flowers dance with a peacock there, Puck appears, and also a unicorn. The dream ends, but Zosia and Tomek are happy to remember this unusual and very pleasant visit to the fairy-tale world.
