JERZY BIELUNAS

Jerzy Bielunas - theatre and television director, professor of National Academy of Theatre Arts in Cracow, branch in Wroclaw.

The author of several theatrical performances, concerts and television spectaculars. The author of lyrics to his own performances, as well as, inter alia, Voo Voo band's songs.

Mostly interested in grotesque theatre and musical performances. The creator of several shows for Stage Songs Review in Wroclaw, such as Nick Cave's Murder Ballads.

The director of many concerts dedicated to Polish song, as well as television spectaculars on the occasion of Poland's accession to the European Union or NSZZ Solidarność's jubilee.            

The director has undertaken Miron Białoszewski's A memoir from Warsaw Uprising several times, in the form of theatrical performances and an outdoor oratorio for the 65th anniversary of the Uprising's outbreak.

Passionate about children's theatre, has staged a number of authorial adaptations of children's classic literature, such as: 101 Dalmatians, The Wild Swans, The Wizard of Oz, The story of Doctor Dolittle, The Jungle Book or Around the World in Eighty Days. The plays have been awarded with "Certificate of High Quality" by The International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People.

He has so far directed two spectaculars for MOZARTIANA International Mozart Festival: Operatic fascinations of Chopin (2010) and Fantasy for Oliwa Cathedral's organ (2017).

A long-time member of ZAiKS Association of Authors, as an author of songs, theatrical pieces and scenarios, and a translator of French songs. Laureate of artistic awards.
